AGVs

AGVs

Automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) are computer-operated, autonomous machines used in industrial settings for tasks such as moving, stacking, loading, and unloading pallets, parts assembly, moving materials to conveyer belts, towing warehouse equipment, and order picking.

AGVs use computer software and navigation sensors to guide them and to determine their position, movement, and location. They are self-powered and utilize power management systems to monitor the charge and health of the AGV.

Examples of AGVs include warehouse tuggers (towing AGVs, or tugs), fork trucks (mechanized forklifts), heavy load carriers, and robots (AGVs equipped with robotic limbs).
